Anime legends Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru (Dragon Ball) and Chikashi Kubota (One Punch Man) are coming to Brussels for Made in Asia
Meet two grandmasters of Japanese animation at Brussels Expo on 7, 8 and 9 March 2025
Brussels - Made in Asia, the event for Asian culture in Belgium, welcomes two giants of Japanese animation this year: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru and Chikashi Kubota. These renowned artists will come to Brussels Expo on 7, 8 and 9 March 2025 to meet their fans.
Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru : the creator of Son Goku Super Saiyan 4
For the fans, animation director, chief animator and character designer Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru is a key figure in the Dragon Ball universe. He has helped define the unique visual identity of this saga and other beloved franchises, such as Digimon Adventure, since 1986.
One of his most iconic creations is the Super Saiyan 4 form, introduced in Dragon Ball GT to characters Goku, Vegeta and Gogeta. This form remains a fan favourite for its originality and visual impact. Nakatsuru also designed Bardock, Goku's father. Akira Toriyama, the original author and creator of Dragon Ball, liked this character so much that he often had him appear in a lot of storylines.
Even today, Nakatsuru lends his expertise to the most recent animated success Dragon Ball Daima, which now releases weekly episodes worldwide via Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, among others. Even almost 40 years after the original animated series, Dragon Ball remains an impressive success, captivating nostalgic fans and new generations alike. Daima exceeded expectations, setting viewing records for each episode and paying tribute to Akira Toriyama, who died in 2024.
Chikashi Kubota: founder of the new generation of animation
Chikashi Kubota is another important figure in modern Japanese animation, with an impressive portfolio that places him among the most influential artists of his generation. He is best known as the character designer of the popular anime One Punch Man.
Kubota also worked as chief animation director on the film Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
Kubota is currently involved with Dragon Ball Daima in key roles as Chief Animation Director, Animation Director and Key Animator.
